The 2010 International Trade Awards sponsored by Santander Corporate Banking are the only UK wide business awards exclusive to exporters and importers. Who Can Enter the 2010 International Trade Awards? Any business or organisation of all sizes and sectors that are actively trading overseas in an enterprise environment. The organisation must meet the following three eligibility criteria to enter the awards:
(1). The organisation must have a turnover of at least £1,000,000
(2). The organisation trades overseas
(3). The organisation is UK based

What are the benefits of applying?
There are many good reasons to enter the 2010 International Trade Awards. Aside from the multitude of 'feel good' benefits that comes from entering business awards - allowing you to reflect on your achievements and acknowledge key staff performances, winning an International Trade Award offers some great direct benefits for your business including places at the UK final held at the House of Lords in Spring 2011, online PR coverage, and a video interview that filmed, edited and hosted - and made available for you to use on your website.

Can I make a joint application with another business or organisation?
The application should be completed in respect of one business or organisation only. Joint nominations will not be valid.
My business is a Social Enterprise, can I apply?
Yes. The International Trade Awards recognise the achievements those businesses all sizes and sectors that trade overseas in an enterprise environment, whether a commercial business or a social enterprise. (A social enterprise is a business with primarily business objective whose surpluses are principally invested for that purpose in the business or in the community, rather than being driven by the need to maximise profit for shareholders and owners).
My business no longer trades overseas, can I still apply?
No. The 2010 International Trade Awards will be awarded to those businesses or organisations that are actively trading overseas, as opposed to retrospective achievements of businesses that are no longer trading.
My business has multiple locations, which regional heat do I enter?
Your application should be entered in to the regional heat respective of the location of your head office or main office.
Can I enter in to more than one regional heat in the 2010 International Trade Awards?
The Chairman of the Judges will acknowledge one application per business throughout the 2010/2011 awards programme.
I have submitted my application form, what happens next?
If you have submitted your application online, you will receive an automated email to confirm receipt of your application form. If you have emailed or posted your application form, you will receive an acknowledgement (by email) within 5 working days of receipt.
What are the closing dates for entries?
Applicants are encouraged to complete their application for at their earliest convenience. Applications for the 2010 award programme can be submitted at any time between 15 July 2010 and 12 noon on the deadline date specific to each region. Click here to see closing dates for regional entries.
When will I find out if we have been shortlisted for the regional award?
A shortlist of 12 businesses per region will be contacted approximately two weeks prior each regional awards presentation lunch between October 2010 and February 2011. Those business who have been shortlisted will be invited to attend a presentation lunch hosted locally by the sponsors. At the regional presentation, one winner will be selected and presented with the Regional International Trade Award. Click here for regional award presentation dates.
What is the next step if my business wins the regional award?
Each regional winner will go through to the UK final, held in Spring 2011 at the House of Lords, and compete against other regional finalists to win one of three national awards
What awards are presented at the UK Final?
The 12 regional finalists will be invited to the UK final at a prestigious Awards Presentation at The House of Lords in Spring 2011 where three national winners will be announced:
- Small to Medium Sized Business of the Year
- Excellence in Innovation' for International Trade, sponsored by Eversheds LLP
- International Trade Company of the year 2010, sponsored by Santander
My business has applied previously, can we apply again?
Yes you can, However, unsuccessful applications from previous years will not be reconsidered automatically, therefore these businesses are encouraged to re-apply for the current application program.
Some information I submitted in the application form has changed
The International Trade Awards team must be advised if there is any changes to the information supplied on the application form for example, any later changes to the business’s legal status or registered details.
