Sheffield Refractories Ltd
Sheffield Refractories is based in Dinnington, an old mining village that is roughly equidistant from Sheffield, Rotherham and Worksop. The company manufactures and installs Monolithic Refractories which are special ceramic materials capable of resisting high temperatures and aggressive chemical environments. More than 15,000 tonnes of upwards of 200 unique products are produced at the company’s three manufacturing sites in the Sheffield area. These materials are primarily used in heavy industrial applications within the Steel, Cement, Incineration, Aluminium and Power Generation Industries. Sheffield Refractories is also a major Refractory Installation Contractor, primarily installing their own materials in Steel Making Vessels, Cement Kilns, Boilers, and Incinerators etc. The company can proudly claim to be the only UK Company that has achieved ISO9000 Quality Assurance Certification both as a Refractory Manufacturer and Installer. Along with its sister company, Intermet Refractory Products Ltd more than 100 people are employed in South Yorkshire with a combined annual Turnover that exceeds £12M. The Company’s direct export market is focused in Northern Europe but particularly in Scandinavia and Finland. However, further export revenue is achieved via Technology Transfer to overseas partners based in Russia, Ukraine and Turkey. The company uses the considerable skills and experience of its enviable Materials Technologist Team to assist overseas partners in developing their own local manufacturing facilities for products that would otherwise be impractical to import.
